Two young boys, Swara and Udayan, live a life of luxury. Many years later, Swara decides to move back in with her childhood friend Dinesh in the slums. Udayan is understandably upset by this and gets into an argument that leads to a violent fight between them. This leaves Swara with a broken nose that leads to Udayan's arrest by the police for attacking his sister's boyfriend. In prison he is given a new perspective on his own life when he meets another inmate who tells him about how much poverty exists in India and about an organization called 'The People'. The film was presented at the 2010 Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, where it won the Best Story award. The film has been released in six different languages - Hindi, English, Telugu , Tamil , Bengali and Marathi. It grossed Rs 18.34 crore in box office. The film grossed 3.89 crores on its first day and went on to become the highest-grossing non-Bollywood film in India. Film Was Attended by many Celebrities Like Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah , Kareena Kapoor , Preity Zinta , Akshay Kumar , Riddhi Sen, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar amongst others. The film was took a risk of giving a debut role to newcomer actress Dimple Kapadia. She has been praised for her performance in the film. She is the only actress who has got a lead role in three different films at three different times in three different languages - Hindi, Telugu and Marathi. The film received mostly positive reviews from the critics. The film was considered a hit at the box office and it has been credited for dealing with sensitive topics like violence and poverty effectively.
